Fat-to-Muscle Ratio (Coming Soon)

Table of contents

Description

Fat‑to‑Muscle Ratio compares how much of your body is fat mass relative to lean muscle mass. It’s a single-number snapshot of body composition balance. Like other consumer body composition metrics, it’s best used for trends because the underlying estimates can shift with hydration and measurement conditions.

Why it matters

A higher ratio often reflects “more fat relative to muscle,” which is commonly associated with lower metabolic efficiency and higher cardiometabolic risk patterns. A lower ratio usually reflects better relative muscularity, which supports glucose regulation, strength, and long-term functional capacity.

What tends to improve the ratio

  • Progressive resistance training (building/maintaining muscle)

  • Adequate protein intake and overall nutrition

  • Consistent daily movement and aerobic fitness

  • Sustainable fat loss (when appropriate), while preserving muscle

Measurement caveats

Hydration, sodium, glycogen, and recent exercise can move impedance-based estimates. Measure under consistent conditions for clearer trends.

Educational only, not medical advice. Use this metric alongside weight, body fat %, and performance/strength markers to guide decisions.
